Why join a garden club?

I've got a story in Today's Chicago Tribune about garden clubs.

And I've leaving in a few minutes to drive off to an studio on the South Side to talk gardening with Mike Nowak on his radio show, 8 to 10 a.m. on WCPT-radio 820 AM in Chicago. Way too early in the morning, but I've had a good breakfast and coffee, so I can probably kick-start a few brain cells.

I had the opportunity to attend a couple of the Wicker Park Garden Club's meetings, while working for One Seed Chicago. Besides the nice people and awesome lecture, I was amazed by the food. It was like a holiday party spread at every meeting.

I did read your article, and am a firm believer in Garden Clubs! I actually belong to two, one called the "fun" group and the other called the "serious" group. They are both learning experiences with the serious group being more involved in community work.
